Deployment,
Air Strike & Submarine Attack
British Deployment |
USN launches their submarine attacks and the British
managed to intercept 3 of it. The resulting strike saw penetrating hit to HMS
Kent (flagship) and sinking it in the process. Subsequent command check saw 3
British ships flee from battle; HMS Berwick, HMS Shark and HMS
Cossack.
Turn 1
Heavy gun fire soon erupted from both fleet with USN destroying HMS Jackal, HMS Nepal and HMS Edinburg ammo
racked.
The British responded with the destruction of
CL Cincinnati and causing double severe listing on CL Honolulu.
USN managed to launch 3 torpedoes heading
towards the British fleet; all miss.
Turn
2
As USN fleet presses forward,
a collision occurred between CL Detroit and HMS Reindeer caused both ships
to be flooded, while CL Omaha and HMS Liverpool avoided a potential
collision.
View From British Right Flank |
British casualties include HSM Eskimo, HMS
Jaguar and HMS Cumberland; with the later 2 sustained critical ammo racks.
On the other hand, USN lost 1 ship; CL
Marblehead.
A total of 11 torpedoes launched, 7 by USN
and 4 by British; leading to the sinking of CL Omaha and CL Savannah by British
torpedoes.
Turn 3
USN called in their 2nd submarine attacks;
sinking HMS Belfast in the process.
Further devastation on British fleet as both
HMS Manchester and HMS Zulu met their demised, while USN’s DE Lovelace sunk.
Turn 4
In a twist of event, the British fleet
managed to sink 3 USN ships in this turn and taking no casualties in the
process. USN casualties include CA Wichita, DE Jordan and DE Loeser.
Sustained rudder damage from this engagement,
forced CL Brooklyn to leave the battle at next turn (not by player choice).
Turn 5
Noteworthy event from this turn was the
sinking of CL Detroit from British gun fire.
The last torpedo launch of the night comes
from the British, aimed towards the USN flagship and missed its target.
With both fleet suffered considerable
casualties and multiple damages to their superstructures, both fleet disengaged
from the battle, resulting in a draw.
