Naval Thunder - Mini League Season 2



Mini League Season 2 taken place in April 2014 spanned across 2 Saturdays at our local gaming shop, Gladius Games. Special thanks to Shah Aziz, the proprietor, for allowing us to use his place for the tournament and also sponsoring some of the gifts to the participants.
This season, we had 8 players taking turn to our maneuver and out gun one another. A well represented players controlling different major factions of World War 2; having 3 IJN commanders along with 2 USN admirals boasted with a French and German naval command and a British admiralty.
The Setup:

Each participant was given 1,000 points to build their fleet with the only exception having a maximum of 10 warships with a minimum of 2 destoryers. There would be a total of (N-1) games played per player where N is the number of players registered to the league and based on a round robin system.
Top - Eric Lew (IJN) vs Liongvei (IJN), Bottom - Damon (USN) vs Kirk (USN)  

At random and prior to battle commencement; 3 scenarios were drawn upon along with dawn/dusk rules. Besides that, spot/detection rules were also active on the game play. All battle were resolved based on the late war rules
Hyiktsay (French) vs Liongvei (IJN)
A 90 minute gameplay with an active 5 rule was observe. Once the timer reaches 90 minutes, the current play round must be completed and then immediately the winning conditions are checked. An umpire may be present to adjudicate the game to ensure that neither player is attempting to employ time-wasting tactics.
Rahman (IJN) vs Damon (USN)
The Result:

Superior fire power and maneuverability saw Damon (USN) emerging top of the class and remained undefeated through Season 2 with a close encounter with Eric Lew’s (IJN) being the potential game changer.
Hyiktsay (French) vs Damon (USN)
Kirk (USN) was a close 2nd narrowly losing to Damon and winning by a hairline to Hyiktsay.
Kirk (USN) vs Liongvei (IJN)
The 3rd place goes to Eric Lew (IJN), having fought off 2 other IJN commanders in a close battle; one involving battler cruiser vs battle cruiser action and another featuring torpedoes salvo.
