Demo @ Hobby Forge - Game 1 vs YS Oon

Demo @ Hobby Forge

The 5 of us gathered few weeks back to have some demo games in Hobby Forge for some run-up games leading towards Naval Thunder League - Season 2.

We managed to pull 4 games that day with a 1k points fleet. As usual, IJN was present, however this time, I added CV Chitose in it - not a smart move when the other players were fielding battle cruisers.

(Disclaimer - I do not have a CV Chitose model present during the battle, it was in the midst of delivery from US to here….true story!!)

USN Setup
The USN fleet separated it forces into 2 flanks - destroyers escorts placed in safety of land cover while it's cruisers on the left outer flanks.

IJN Setup
Overall Setup
The IJN, on the other hand, took on a different approach and gathered all their warships in a tight formation - to provide screening and support to CV Chitose.
Turn 1
At the beginning of turn 1, IJN DDs kick started a brazen run towards USN DEs' formation; situated behind land mass cover. Upon sight, DD Niizuki was sunk by shots coming from both USN's CB Alaska and CA Houston.
Turn 2
In turn 2, CV Chitose launched its planes targeting USN cruisers - proved fatal as all planes were lost. However, CA Mogami was able to lay some damage to CL Dayton.
Turn 3
IJN's DDs continued on their bold race towards USN's DEs while keeping a big gap from the powerful USN cruisers' gun range. Despite the gap, CB Alaska still able to find its mark on DD Akigumo and sank it in the process.
Turn 4
The approaching IJN DDs had force upon the USN DEs to maneuver from the land mass cover. In the midst of that, IJN cruisers continued their pounding on CL Dayton.
Turn 5
With USN cruisers closing and within comfortable firing range, IJN suffered major damages on its ships at turn 5 - CV Chitose and DD Asashimo took on major beating. DD Asashimo would be destroyed in this turn by DE Buckley.
Turn 6
By turn 6, CB Alaska was able to focus its gun on IJN flagship, CA Mogami, sinking it in the same firing phrase.

With the flagship destroyed, CA Myoko fled the battle surface and all remainder IJN warships were called to port.

A comfortable USN victory.
